THE CELEBRATION OF VIRGEN DEL PILAR'S DAY AT SCHOOL

Every year, the Virgen del Pilar’s offering is celebrated in my school. The Virgen del Pilar’s day is on October 12th, but as this is a festivity in my community, we celebrate it if it’s possible the day before, so this year we celebrated it on October 11th. The participants were: the school’s pupils from 1st of Preschool Education to 4th of ESO (Compulsory Secondary Education), the teachers, the Students’ Parents Association, and the Old Students Association.

Like every year, the Preschool Education pupils offered red roses to do the cross of the Virgin’s cape; and the Primary Education pupils offered white roses to do the Virgin’s cape.
The Secondary Education students, the teachers, the Students’ Parents Association and the Old Students Association offered fruits that were destined to feed the Carmen nursery school’s children.

If the pupils want to wear the typical costume, they are allowed to. Most of the people wear a cachirulo in their neck.

This year, the celebration had some changes:
-The students who get dressed as joteros usually come into the church in order, from the youngest to the oldest and at the end, two 4th of Secondary Education students with the Virgen del Pilar, but this year two  4th of Secondary Education students entered the first and then the pupils from the oldest to the youngest.
-The pupils of Primary school offered some things related with the Jota like Joteros shoes, castañuelas, etc.
-Preschool education pupils recited some poems about the Virgen del Pilar.
-Some Primary education pupils sang a jota.
-Several primary and secondary education students and several students’ mothers danced jota, but in different groups.

It was an exciting and awaited celebration because the Aragon’s People look forward the day and the festivities. People from all over the world come to Zaragoza and it becomes full of people.
